Four posts are available for experienced Learning Disability Skills practitioners, with backgrounds in delivering training sessions to small groups of adults. Sessions are delivered at our four sites in the North East region and in community settings. Our sites are at Blyth and Hexham (Northumberland), Newcastle and Coundon (Durham).

The sessions are designed to teach independent living and employment skills, health & wellbeing management to adults with intellectual (learning) disability and are ASDAN accredited. These are adults with conditions from birth impacting cognitive development with high associated sensory and physical co-morbidity, such as Down's, Prader-Willi, cerebral palsy, Sotos and Williams Syndromes.

Please note that these roles are not suitable for workers from 'care' settings: we do not deliver any personal care, CQC-regulated services. These roles are also not suitable for teachers/TAs trained and working at primary or lower secondary level. We deliver Adult Services, with the majority of our clients within the 25 - 45 age range.

Opportunities for career progression at Journey allow staff to either progress to team leadership and middle management roles or to specialise further within our Projects Team. Our projects are funded on short cycles, from 1 - 3 years, enabling us to provide innovation and extended opportunities.

Contracts are offered on a permanent basis. Employees are provided with 36 days leave per annum pro rata, a contributory pension scheme, a healthcare package, holiday buy-back scheme, length of service holiday accrual scheme, Cycle2Work Scheme, salary and a Journey promotional items welcome pack. Staff are also offered discounted lunches and free refreshments.

The Charity operates between 08.30 – 16.30 from Monday – Thursdays and 08.30 – 16.00 on Fridays. All staff who work for six hours continuously must take half an hour for lunch daily.
