This is a substantive 6PA Consultant post based primarily at Charing Cross Hospital (CXH), with responsibilities across Sleep and Ventilation, General Respiratory Medicine, and the nationally recognised Pulmonary Arteriovenous Malformation (PAVM) Service at Hammersmith Hospital, part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
The post-holder will contribute to the acute medical take and respiratory ward consultant rota at CXH, including management of patients with acute respiratory failure requiring non-invasive ventilation on the Acute Respiratory Unit. There will also be opportunities to develop rapid-access “Hot Clinics” aimed at providing timely respiratory assessment and reducing hospital admissions.
This role offers the opportunity to provide high-quality care for patients with a wide range of respiratory conditions, including sleep-disordered breathing, home ventilation, general respiratory disease and PAVMs, within a specialist tertiary centre supported by an experienced multidisciplinary team. It would suit both newly qualified consultants seeking development within a supportive environment and established consultants looking to join a larger organisation.

We are committed to equal opportunities and improving the working lives of our staff and will consider applications to work flexibly, part time or job share. Please talk to us at interview.
On appointment, the candidate will have a formal job plan meeting with the clinical director when the candidate will have the opportunity to make changes to the timetable to suit the candidate’s needs. During acute medicine, all other clinical commitments are cancelled. Respiratory ward commitments never overlap with acute medicine commitments. Where job sessions are on different locations on the same day, transport is provided and the time to travel included in the job plan. Respiratory clinics are allocated 30 minutes per slot and follow ups 15 minutes per slot. A typical clinic includes 5 new cases and 2 follow ups, but this will vary with demand on the service. These slots may be used flexibly for new or follow up patients as needed.
