Across South Gloucestershire, many Disabled people choose to employ their own Personal Assistants (PAs) through Direct Payments and other personalised funding arrangements. Increasingly, some support workers are choosing to work independently or as part of small local organisations, providing flexible and personalised support tailored to individual needs. These providers are known as micro-providers.

As Community Care Workforce Development Officer, you'll lead the development of a thriving local network of micro-providers, helping people establish and grow successful services while ensuring quality, safety and sustainability. This is a varied and rewarding role combining community engagement, workforce development, partnership building and quality assurance.

What you'll be doing:

  • Recruiting and supporting new micro-providers across South Gloucestershire, with a particular focus on rural communities
  • Providing guidance on self-employment, business development and sustainable working practices
  • Promoting micro-provision as a rewarding employment pathway
  • Building strong relationships with community organisations, statutory partners and local networks
  • Developing referral pathways and increasing awareness of personalised care options
  • Supporting the delivery of a simple membership and quality assurance framework
  • Coordinating training, networking and peer support opportunities
  • Maintaining a directory of local micro-providers
  • Monitoring outcomes, evaluating impact and contributing to project reporting
  • Helping shape a more diverse, flexible and community-led care market
