The Pollution & Housing Team are a busy front-line service responsible for the enforcement of Housing, Pollution, Caravan Site Licensing, Environmental Crime, Private Water Supplies and Dog Control.
We are looking for a Technical Officer to undertake public health investigations, provide pollution and housing advice to members of the public and businesses, investigate complaints, deal with service requests, sampling, HMO inspections, caravan sites inspections and the investigation of dog related issues, including the collection of stray dogs, as and when required. The role will also include, from time to time, the need to work unsociable hours.
You will have sound knowledge of the legislation, codes of practice and guidance relating to Housing, Environmental Crime and Pollution, together with the ability to investigate complaints and undertake inspections independently. You will have a broad and complex case load and will represent the service in a multidisciplinary team, being able to undertake all public health functions to ensure our residents are living in a safe and healthy environment.
You will have excellent interpersonal skills and have excellent communications and negotiation skills. You will have experience of dealing with a variety of customers, partners and other organisations, as well as the ability to manage competing priorities and remain calm under pressure.
