In this vital role, you will be a first point of contact, providing essential advice and ensuring a holistic approach to student support. By collaborating with college, departmental, and central services colleagues, you will help develop an inclusive model of support that champions student safeguarding, welfare, and overall wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide confidential, direct support and advice to students on non-academic matters.
- Manage and monitor Support to Study cases and respond effectively to residential in-college issues.
- Make initial decisions to connect students with the best available support for straightforward cases.
- Create, manage, and securely maintain caseload records in line with University procedures.
- Deliver workshops, talks, and training sessions for students and student leaders.
- Undertake occasional late and weekend working by arrangement to support events and activities.
About You
- You have experience working in a Higher Education (HE) or Further Education (FE) student-facing environment and deeply understand student welfare and support issues.
- You possess excellent oral, listening, and written communication skills, enabling you to build quick rapport while maintaining professional boundaries.
- You are highly organised, flexible, and can comfortably work under pressure while using creative problem-solving skills.
- You hold a Level 3 qualification (such as A levels) or possess equivalent non-UK/professional experience.
- Experience in the management of student-staff is a plus.
