Luma Education Recruitment is working with a specialist education provision in Colchester to appoint a dedicated Specialist Teacher to support a small group of young people with additional learning and behavioural needs. This is an opportunity for a teacher who enjoys working in a small, highly personalised learning environment, where teaching can be adapted around individual pupils rather than following a traditional classroom model.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for planning and delivering a personalised programme of education, helping pupils to re-engage with learning and make meaningful academic and personal progress. Key responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering engaging lessons across a range of subjects.
- Adapting teaching to meet individual learning needs and abilities.
- Supporting pupils with SEMH, SEN, EBD and behavioural needs.
- Establishing positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
- Using consistent and effective classroom management strategies.
- Supporting pupils who have experienced disrupted education or significant barriers to learning.
- Assessing and recording pupil progress.
- Contributing to individual education plans, EHCPs and PEPs.
- Working collaboratively with support staff, families and external professionals.
- Preparing pupils for qualifications, further education, employment and greater independence.
- Maintaining a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
