The predicted salary is between 46134 - 56386 £ per year.

The post holder will assist support of young people with mental health needs and challenging behaviours, such as depression or psychosis, and working with young people who have likely felt or attempted suicidal. You will be required to provide person centred care and working, whilst supporting qualified staff to ensure the highest standards of care are upheld.

The post holder works under the overall supervision of the Ward Manager, but is required to undertake the duties of the post without direct supervision. They are required to teach other nursing and non-nursing staff allocated to their particular area. In addition, the post holder will be expected to take a key role as lead on the clinical practice within the area, will demonstrate good leadership skills whilst ensuring robust standards of care are in place, including physical, mental health and social needs ensuring these are implemented and evaluated.

  • The post holder will be responsible for developing and running teaching sessions including CAMHS preceptorship programme, and adhoc trainings as required.
  • The post holder will be fully conversant and uphold the Nursing and Midwifery code of Professional conduct.
  • Inform the Ward Sister/Ward Charge Nurse on all breaches of nursing professional conduct, as required by the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s (NMC) Code of Professional Conduct.
  • In association with Anglia Ruskin University, University of Essex and University of Suffolk, ensure the learning environment for all nurses in training is appropriate and that teaching areas comply with all N.M.C. Regulations.
  • Take responsibility for the allocation of student nurses and preceptee nurses.
  • Participate and take professional responsibility/accountability in care planning and ensure that accurate, timely records are maintained in line with the Trust Policy and N.M.C. Record Keeping.
  • Ensure that clinical practice is evidence-based wherever possible and participate in research and audit.
  • Following any complaint / accident of serious incident ensure that appropriate documentation is fully completed in line with Trust Policy and Procedures.
  • Be responsible for updating own knowledge of contemporary psychiatry and a commitment to continuing own personal and career development, in line with Trust Appraisal and Development Policy and N.M.C. guidelines and requirements.
  • Attend training as provided and be responsible for keeping self up to date at all times with mandatory training.
  • Keep updated in all legislative government initiatives.
  • Act as role model at all times, ensuring uniform is worn correctly.
  • Undertake and be proactive in clinical and managerial supervision and identify the training needs of junior, unqualified staff and students.
  • Participate in the appraisal process every year; ensure all personal objectives are met in a timely manner.
  • Promote a positive ward image, showing a professional and helpful approach to all visitors to the ward.
  • Regularly take charge of the ward.
  • Liaise with the Clinical Team and other disciplines to ensure appropriate continuity of patient care as part of the Care Programme Approach and improve the quality of care provided.
  • Be mindful and uphold all infection control policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that adequate stock levels of drugs, dressings and are available on the ward.
  • Maintain equipment and organize repairs and replacements as necessary.
  • Instruct and supervise staff in nursing techniques, identifying training needs and actively participating in staff development programmes.
  • Undertake and be proactive in clinical supervision in accordance with Trust Policies at regular intervals.
