About The Compleat Food Group: At The Compleat Food Group, we’re proud to be a food business built on purpose and passion. Formed in 2021, we’re on a mission to create Food to Feel Good - great quality, tasty and affordable food that people love to eat. We’re home to some of the UK’s most exciting and loved food brands, including Wall’s Pastry, Pork Farms, Wrights, The Real Yorkshire Pudding Co., unearthed, Vadasz, Squeaky Bean, Palace Culture, and Harvey & Brockless. Alongside our branded portfolio, we’re a leading supplier of delicious own-label pastry, sweet bakery, party food, olives and antipasti, added-value egg products, continental meats, dips and sauces and plant-based food to the UK’s major retailers, as well as across foodservice. With over 6,000 talented colleagues across 18 sites, and an annual turnover of £1.3bn, we’re united by a shared ambition to shape the future of food for the better.
What You'll Be Doing: In this key role, you’ll be visible on the shop floor, working closely with Production Supervisors and operational teams to ensure the production plan is delivered on time, to the right quality standards and within labour targets. You’ll play a big part in driving performance across areas such as OEE, waste, labour allocation, labour cost, non-conformance and continuous improvement. You’ll also lead regular team briefings, support improvement plans, challenge standards where needed and help create a culture where safety, quality, teamwork and performance come first. You’ll support the smooth running of production by ensuring materials, people and processes are in place to deliver the plan. You’ll monitor performance, review KPIs, investigate quality and operational issues, and ensure actions are completed. You’ll work closely with QA and other departments to maintain food safety, product quality, traceability and operational standards. You’ll also support NPD trials, monthly reporting and continuous improvement activity across the factory. A big part of the role will be leading people. You’ll coach, motivate and develop your team, support Group Leaders, manage skills matrices, drive communication through huddles and ensure colleagues are recognised, supported and held accountable where needed. Health, safety and food safety will always be a priority. You’ll make sure procedures are followed, standards are maintained and any unsafe or non-compliant processes are stopped and addressed.
What we’re looking for: We’re looking for someone with experience in an operational leadership role within manufacturing or production, ideally within food manufacturing. You’ll be confident leading large teams in a fast-paced environment and will understand production performance, labour planning, waste reduction and continuous improvement. You’ll be a strong communicator who can build great relationships, influence others and bring teams together. You’ll also need to be hands-on, organised, analytical and comfortable using Microsoft Office to prepare and present information. Ideally, you’ll hold relevant qualifications in food manufacturing or production management, along with Level 3 or 4 Food Safety and Hygiene, HACCP Level 3 or 4, and IOSH. Experience in engineering, project management or auditing would be a great bonus.
