A position is available in the Neurology Department for a Clinical Trials Practitioner to join the team at Barts Health. The post-holder will be expected to partake in all aspects of the study recruitment and development. These include discussion of the studies specifics with prospective participants, consenting, collection into ad-hoc databases of all information requested, sample collection, sample processing and storage in the newly created cryoprotection facility under the Human Tissue Research Centre (HTRC) at the Blizard Institute.
His/her work will be primarily focused on clinical trial activity and making sure that all samples obtained are treated seamlessly according to agreed standard SOPs across recruiting Centres. The post holder will be expected to support other members of the Team in their analytical work, including planning and executing immunodetection experiments like ELISA for biomarkers measurements. This post will offer training opportunities in the most up to date techniques for immunodetection including Mesoscale and Simoa.
The post-holder will have knowledge of technical or scientific practices, methods and procedures gained through either work experience and/or formal qualification and will deploy this knowledge to provide a range of technical support activities.
The post is based in 11D at The Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel in London, which provides a stimulating scientific environment and state of the art infrastructure and facilities. The post is part-time (0.5WTE: entry level - £22,515, mid level – £24,343) for 1 year, starting as soon as possible with the option for renewal.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
