We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our Forensic Outreach Service (FOS). This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced clinician to provide specialist occupational therapy assessment and intervention to adults with complex mental health needs and forensic histories living in the community.
As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, you will:
- Provide advanced occupational therapy interventions.
- Lead a small team of occupational therapy staff to ensure consistent delivery within the forensic outreach service and newly developed forensic step down unit.
- Contribute to service development, particularly supporting the development of pathways between forensic inpatient and community services.
- Support the ongoing growth of occupational therapy practice within forensic community services.

The Forensic Outreach Service supports individuals with complex mental health needs and forensic backgrounds to live safely and successfully within the community. The service works collaboratively with service users, carers, community services, residential providers, criminal justice partners, and healthcare professionals to promote recovery, social inclusion, and meaningful participation in daily life.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing specialist Occupational Therapy assessment, formulation, and intervention for service users with complex mental health needs and forensic backgrounds.
- Managing an independent specialist caseload using advanced clinical reasoning and professional judgement.
- Using evidence-based Occupational Therapy approaches and specialist assessments, including the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO), to inform care planning and intervention.
- Developing occupational formulations and delivering recovery-focused interventions that support meaningful occupational outcomes.
- Leading and coordinating Occupational Therapy provision within the team, ensuring effective workload management and service delivery.
- Providing clinical and professional leadership, supervision, and support to Occupational Therapy staff, support workers, and students.
- Acting as a specialist Occupational Therapy resource within the multidisciplinary team, offering expert consultation and advice.
- Leading and contributing to quality improvement initiatives, service development projects, audits, and governance activities.
- Promoting social inclusion, independence, wellbeing, and recovery through person-centred practice.
- Supporting the development of Occupational Therapy services in collaboration with senior therapy leadership.
