Working closely with the Director, Deputy Director and Head of Midwifery, you will provide expert leadership to strengthen midwife-led care pathways and support safe, effective, compassionate and inclusive care. You will work with multidisciplinary colleagues and service users to deliver evidence-based improvements aligned with national guidance, regulatory requirements and Trust priorities. Based across York and Scarborough Hospitals, you will promote consistency, shared learning and high-quality care across both sites, while helping to shape the future of maternity services across the wider health system.

If you are a passionate and forward-thinking midwifery leader ready to influence quality, culture and standards at scale, we would love to hear from you.

In this role, you will:

  • Champion informed choice, autonomy and personalised care planning throughout the maternity journey
  • Drive clinical quality improvement, using learning from incidents, feedback and data to enhance outcomes and experience
  • Provide professional leadership to ensure high standards of midwifery practice aligned with national guidance and the NMC Code
  • Promote midwifery-led and physiological birth approaches where appropriate
  • Foster a positive, inclusive and speaking-up culture for staff
  • Strengthen governance, assurance processes and organisational learning
  • Work collaboratively to develop guidance, education and support for staff responding to care choices that sit outside recommended pathways, balancing safety, professional accountability and the rights of birthing people to make informed decisions.

We offer a range of benefits to support our staff including:

  • Access to the NHS Pension Scheme, providing generous benefits upon retirement, as well as a lump sum and pension for dependants
  • 27 days holiday rising to 33 days (depending on NHS Trust service)
  • A variety of different types of paid and unpaid leave covering emergency and planned leave
  • Confidential advice and support on personal, work, family and relationship issues, 24/7, from our Employee Assistance Programme
  • NHS Car Lease scheme and Cycle to Work scheme
  • An extensive range of learning and development opportunities
  • Discounts on restaurants, getaways, shopping, motoring, cinema and finance from a range of providers
