A rare opportunity to join a leading engineering firm in Chippenham, Wiltshire as a Project Engineer.
They specialise in the lifecycle of control system projects, from initial assessment through to commissioning and project completion.
Key duties include interpreting technical requirements, contributing to project specifications, selecting and procuring materials, designing system layouts and drawings (not drafting), and overseeing the assembly, configuration, testing, and deployment of control systems.
The role involves active participation in system testing, client liaison, and onsite installation activities.

Role & Responsibilities
The Project Engineer is expected to develop proficiency with proprietary control software platforms and may be tasked with programming and configuring third-party industrial control hardware such as PLCs, DCS systems, and HMIs.
Domestic and international travel may be required for system start-up, commissioning, and ongoing support.
Effective communication with clients and internal teams is essential, along with a sound understanding of electrical and control system principles.
Responsibilities also include preparing project documentation, troubleshooting control systems, and ensuring project deliverables meet quality standards within scheduled timelines
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Control Systems, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Basic knowledge of electrical and electronic principles relevant to control systems.
- Experience with wiring methods, I/O hardware, and panel design.
- Familiarity with control system instrumentation and their applications.
- Understanding of motor control centres, switchgear, starters, and variable frequency drives.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings such as P&IDs, flow diagrams, logic diagrams, and electrical schematics.
- Knowledge of serial and network communication protocols and standards.
- Competence with PC hardware, Windows-based software, and basic software development or scripting skills.
- Troubleshooting skills for control systems and components.
