We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic

Specialist Speech & Language Therapist to join our dedicated multidisciplinary team, supporting learners with complex physical disabilities, learning disabilities and communication needs.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your specialist skills within a highly collaborative environment, working alongside therapy, education, residential and healthcare professionals to deliver life-changing outcomes for learners.

About the Role

As a Specialist Speech & Language Therapist, you will:

  • Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate specialist therapy programmes for learners with complex communication needs.
  • Manage your own caseload and support learners to achieve meaningful communication outcomes.
  • Complete complex assessments, including pre-college assessments and dysphagia assessments where appropriately qualified.
  • Design and oversee programmes delivered by Therapy Assistants and other colleagues across the organisation.
  • Provide supervision and support to Speech & Language Therapists and Speech & Language Therapy Assistants.
  • Contribute to annual reviews, reports, capacity assessments and multidisciplinary planning processes.
  • Deliver training, coaching and communication strategies to staff and key communication partners.
  • Promote a Total Communication approach and help embed communication support throughout the learner's daily life.

About You

We're looking for a motivated professional who is committed to delivering outstanding, person-centred care and support.

  • Degree qualification recognised by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
  • Current HCPC registration and licence to practise.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in a relevant clinical field.
  • Experience of managing a caseload and working within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based assessment and intervention approaches.
  • Experience training, supporting or supervising others.
  • Experience within specialist education or residential settings.
  • Experience working with learners with PMLD, ASD, AAC or acquired brain injury.
  • Dysphagia qualification and assessment experience.
  • Knowledge of Makaton, Signalong, BSL, Intensive Interaction or AAC systems such as Grid 3, Boardmaker or Widgit.
