Cheltenham Borough Council are looking for a proactive and skilled M&E Surveyor to help shape the future of our housing assets and ensure our residents live in safe, well maintained homes.
About the role
As our M&E Surveyor, you’ll play a key role in the effective management of our housing stock.
You’ll carry out detailed inspections, support long term investment planning, and lead the development of planned and cyclical maintenance programmes.
Your expertise will help us deliver safe, compliant, and efficient mechanical and electrical installations across homes and communal areas.

What you’ll be doing
- Carrying out inspections of mechanical and electrical systems across our housing stock.
- Leading planned and cyclical maintenance programmes for key M&E assets.
- Managing contractors and ensuring safe, compliant, high quality delivery.
- Preparing specifications, supporting procurement, and monitoring performance.
- Working closely with residents, contractors, and colleagues to deliver a customer focused service.
- Keeping accurate records and contributing to long term asset planning.
What we’re looking for
- 3+ years’ experience in an appropriate technical or professional role.
- HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Building Services, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of compliance requirements.
- Contract management and specification writing skills.
- Excellent communication and project management abilities
