The Council’s Strategic Housing Service is looking to recruit a Housing Initiatives Officer to support the team by identifying and leading on projects which will improve the supply and use of homes that are needed to ensure we can meet our legal and strategic duties to the current and future community in Chelmsford. This is a new role within the Strategic Housing Service recognising the need to constantly find new and innovative ways to improve the supply of affordable and supported housing in our areas.
It will also involve working with a wide range of partners to make best use of existing housing stock, secure additional resources and deliver projects that also mitigate locally the impact of the current housing crisis. The post will report directly to the Head of Strategic Housing Services and may at times be required to deputise for them and others in the team, representing the Service at internal and external meetings and events.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate an excellent knowledge of the processes for the development of affordable housing, ideally including supported housing. They should also have a good understanding of housing management issues and the various sources of income and expenditure for providers of affordable and supported housing. Some relevant experience is required, ideally working for a Local Housing Authority or similar as you will be responsible for identifying opportunities and leading on their delivery.
Please note should sufficient applications be received prior to the closing date, we may close the role for applications early. Interviews are currently scheduled for 22nd September. As an accredited Essex Family Friendly Employer, this full-time role can be job-shared or part-time if we can fill the remaining hours. Please mention this in your supporting statement if you are interested.
