KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Domestic Service including Rapid Response (CAT)
- Ensure that the ward(s) / areas are cleaned in accordance with the Work Schedule.
- Tasks include vacuuming, sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, dusting, wiping, polishing surfaces, cleaning toilets, sinks, baths, showers, cookers, ovens, fridges, and microwaves.
- Restock consumables such as toilet tissue, hand towels, and soap.
- Use correct colour coded mops, cloths, and buckets to prevent cross infection.
- Report any issues with floor coverings or surfaces to your supervisor.
- Use cleaning materials economically and report any quality issues.
- Use machinery safely and report any faults.
- Ensure equipment and cleaning materials are stored securely.
- Dispose of waste correctly and report any issues with waste segregation.
- Food Services
- Assist with the regeneration process of cook chill meals and record temperatures.
- Prepare soup, gravy, and custard for patient meals.
- Serve and clear away meals served to patients.
- Clean crockery and cutlery used for serving meals.
- Laundry Service
- Wash, dry, and finish items of clothing and linens appropriately.
- Label personal items and keep dirty items separate from clean items.
- Maintain cleanliness in the laundry and complete cleaning checklists.
- Report faulty machinery to the Supervisor.
- Portering
- Deliver pharmacy boxes, medical records, clean linen, and meal trolleys.
- Sort, deliver, and collect mail as instructed.
- Transport patients when required, accompanied by nursing staff.
- Maintain medical gas supplies and report defects.
- Assist with unloading and loading vehicles.
- Keep the site and car park clear of litter and rubbish.
- Assist with vehicular access during emergencies.
- Attend fire calls and assist the fire brigade as needed.
- Undertake gritting and snow clearance during severe weather.
- Keep waste compound and storage areas clean and tidy.
