  • Manage day to day operation of Both kitchen teams across the Trust, deliver a consistently high standard of food provision to our inpatient food service and across all Trust retail outlets.
  • To provide overall leadership for the catering chef teams on both Trust sites and be responsible for the general preparation and supply of food services to patients, Staff and visitors of Wirral Hospital NHS Trust.
  • To take a proactive role in the management and the efficient running of the catering department services and people in accordance with departmental and trust policies and procedures.
  • Organise rotas, manage staff compliance levels and ensure all mandatory training is up to date. Delivery team appraisals and check-ins.
  • Motivate chefs/staff to continuously produce high quality menus and special theme days.
  • Coach and support the chef team and oversee the development of junior staff.
  • Communicate and liaise with a varied range of Trust staff with regards to catering operational standards and service delivery.
  • Provide, receive and communicate a range of information, e. g. redeployment, grading, appeals, disciplinary.
  • Attend weekly Catering Department Managers meetings to discuss and assist in the provision of management reports relating to payroll, service delivery, staffing capacity.
  • Communicate and liaise with the Business Support Team and Head of Catering to adhere to agreed budget settings.
  • Communicate with catering staff and ensure training and development is compliant.
  • Meet and liaise with Catering Supervisors to communicate key information to support service delivery and compliance.

Support the supervisors to develop the creation of departmental rotas.

  • Assist the department in any operational and service improvement projects as directed. This may include collating of information and producing options appraisals.
  • Signatory for additional rechargeable services provided to internal and external users with regards to Catering Services.
  • Assist the Catering Manager in the completion of financial and operational reports regarding staffing expenditure and materials management.
