On-call The post has night on-call commitment based on a 1:8 rota, which will be based at St Helier Hospital, covering ICU and HDU. There will be 2 junior doctors every night. In day time there will be minimum 4 junior doctors in the unit. The unit is always covered by a consultant intensivist, who is on-site from 8 AM to 9 PM and then on-call (non-resident). Currently Epsom unit cover is only day time (8AM to 6PM) by critical care juniors. Night cover at Epsom will be provided by Anaeasthetic team There is a very close link between critical care unit and anaesthetic department. The on call critical care junior doctor and anaesthetic junior doctor are expected to work as a team and help out each other as required.
