Working Pattern: Full Year

Contract: Permanent

15 hours per week, 7am to 10am Monday to Friday

There may be opportunity to work additional hours to carry out emergency repairs/cover for cleaning staff. This position is all year-round working, not term time only. Holidays to be taken during school holidays.

The Governors are seeking to appoint proactive and reliable Caretaker/Maintenance Person to join our dedicated team at Rosehill Methodist Primary Academy. This is a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the school premises, providing a safe, well-maintained environment for pupils, staff, and visitors. The successful candidate will take pride in their work, demonstrate strong organisational skills, and be committed to supporting the school’s ethos and values.

We are looking for an excellent Caretaker/Maintenance person:

  • Undertake minor repairs (i.e. not requiring qualified craftsperson) and maintenance of the buildings and site.
  • Experience/Interest in carrying out plumbing/joinery work would be desirable.
  • Arrange emergency repairs, in liaison with the Admin & Ops Lead.
  • Carry out or arrange regular maintenance and safety checks in liaison with the Admin & Ops Lead.
  • Ensure that buildings and the site are secure, including during out of school hours and take remedial action if required.
  • Assist in an annual deep clean of classrooms, staffrooms, kitchen, dining areas and other frequently used spaces on school premises.
  • Act as a designated key holder for the school premises.
  • Operate and regularly check systems such as water, heating, cooling, lighting and security (including alarms).
  • Oversee onsite maintenance contractors, checking that work is completed to required standards and within required timescales.
  • Monitor consumables and stock and order supplies.
  • Undertake general portage duties, including moving furniture and equipment within the school.
  • Collect and dispose of waste and recycle where possible.
  • Ensure replenishment of soap dispensers, paper towels and other consumables is actioned.
  • Ensure the provision of heating and lighting as necessary and setting of controls as appropriate.

The main base for the role will be Rosehill Methodist Primary Academy. This post involves working with children, young people or vulnerable adults and is therefore exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. This post is subject to Enhanced Disclosure Procedures.
