About the Department

We are currently looking for a Care Worker who can work within our team based in Cromwell Road, Grays.
Our service runs from Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm (we provide escorting duties to support the minibus drivers to collect and drop off members, this is worked on a rota basis which will entail a slightly earlier start time). The Friendship Club provides opportunities for members to socialise, develop friendships, and participate in a variety of activities and community outings that promote inclusion and wellbeing. We also provide support with toileting needs and personal care, ensuring that all assistance is delivered with dignity, respect, and sensitivity to individual preferences.
Our staff work closely with members to identify personal goals and develop achievable plans to support their progress, independence, confidence, and overall quality of life. Progress is reviewed regularly to ensure support remains person-centred and responsive to changing needs.
About the Role
As part of the Care Worker role, staff will be required to undertake escort duties. This involves accompanying the driver on the transport bus while members are collected from their homes and transported to and from the Friendship Club. The escort is responsible for supporting and supervising members during the journey, ensuring their safety, comfort, and wellbeing while on the bus. They will also provide assistance to club members as required and help maintain a positive and respectful environment throughout the journey.

The successful candidate will need to always have a professional attitude and have knowledge around the understanding of Dementia, Behaviours that may be challenging, Safeguarding, Equality & Diversity, Adaptable communication, effective listening & working as part of a team as well as working independently. The Council supports the Covid-19 vaccination programme and encourages staff delivering front-line care services to take up the offer of double vaccination.
DBS Check: A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check for Adults is required at Enhanced plus barred list level.
