Contract Type: Locum or Substantive

Details: Start ASAP, ongoing. Mon-Fri. Full or part time considered. Job plan to be negotiated with suitable candidates. Cross-site cover across 2 hospitals. The service is the regional tertiary referral centre for gynaecological cancers across South East Wales and manages over 450 gynaecological cancer surgeries annually, supported by a well-established multidisciplinary team.

We are keen to hear from candidates with:

  • Inclusion on the Specialist Register (or within six months of CCT/CESR).
  • Sub-specialist accreditation in Gynaecological Oncology (or expected completion within six months).
  • Experience in the management of gynaecological cancers and advanced surgical techniques.

About the Role

As a locum Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, you'll play a key role in delivering high‑quality care and supporting your clinical team.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and management of patients with suspected or confirmed gynaecological cancers, including complex surgical decision‑making.
  • Perform and lead major gynaecological oncology surgical procedures, ensuring safe, evidence‑based patient care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, contributing to treatment planning and coordination of cancer pathways.
  • Supervise, teach and support junior medical staff, trainees and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation, participate in clinical governance activities, and ensure compliance with NHS and regulatory standards.

  • On the GMC Specialist Register (or within 6 months of achieving this)
  • Previous UK experience
  • For locums - Full Right to Work in the UK (visa sponsorship is available for substantive applicants if needed)
  • FRCR accredited
