  • CAMHS Liaison and Diversion Practitioner - YOS | East London NHS Foundation Trust
  • To provide a specialist forensic child and adolescent mental health service to young people and their families who have become involved in the Criminal Justice System.
  • To provide a community-based service, located within the local YJS
  • To deliver a service including the provision of specialist advice/consultation and forensic and CAMHS evidence-based mental health assessment, including adolescents with complex and severe mental health problems.

This requires skills in assessing complex client systems, appropriate formulation, engagement and interventions.

  • Liaison with other agencies, referrals to other services where necessary and providing consultation to YJS staff.
  • To provide time limited interventions where appropriate for children, young people and their families.
  • To provide mental health input to the network of the child, young person and families, as required.
  • To provide an effective interface between Health and the Criminal Justice System as the post sits directly at the interface of these two systems.

The post holder has to be aware of, adhere to and be accountable to the relevant practices and management structure in both systems.

  • To contribute directly to the positive working environment within the multi-agency team.

This will require a high degree of professional autonomy and self-management.

  • Professional practice will be accounted for through appraisal and audit
  • To provide specialist advice and consultation regarding diagnoses and treatment to CAMHS colleagues, external agencies, working autonomously within professional guidelines.
  • To manage, plan and prioritise own clinical caseload and to exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment and treatment, including management of risks.

This is done independently within appropriate clinical/professional guidelines.

  • To work collaboratively with CAMHS colleagues to develop and improve the work of the service.
