The Opportunity

As a Student Attendance Officer, you'll work closely with students, curriculum teams, pastoral staff, and external agencies to promote excellent attendance and support learner retention.

You'll be at the heart of student support, helping to identify attendance concerns early, engaging with learners and their families, and implementing strategies that encourage positive attendance habits and student success.

  • What You'll Be Doing
  • Monitoring and tracking student attendance across college provision
  • Following up on absences and identifying patterns of poor attendance
  • Building positive relationships with learners to encourage engagement and participation
  • Supporting students to overcome barriers that may impact attendance
  • Working closely with curriculum teams, tutors, and student support services
  • Maintaining accurate attendance records and reporting information where required
  • Liaising with parents, carers, and external agencies when appropriate
  • Supporting student retention and achievement through proactive interventions
  • Contributing to a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
  • Promoting a culture of high expectations and student success

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in attendance, student services, pastoral support, administration, education, or a related role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to build rapport with learners from a range of backgrounds
  • A proactive and solution-focused approach
  • Confidence managing sensitive conversations and maintaining professional boundaries
  • Experience working within education, Further Education, schools, colleges, or student support environments is desirable
