An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a well-established facilities management and engineering team responsible for maintaining a diverse portfolio of critical assets and infrastructure.

The Role
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring mechanical systems and plant equipment are maintained safely, efficiently and in line with industry best practice.
Working across several sites, you will provide technical support, oversee safe systems of work and act as a subject‑matter expert on mechanical compliance matters.
You will be responsible for supporting operational teams, assisting with project delivery, carrying out audits and inspections, and ensuring maintenance activities are completed to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe operation and maintenance of mechanical systems and associated plant.
- Support the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance activities.
- Produce and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Provide technical guidance and support to engineers, subcontractors and stakeholders.
- Carry out compliance audits and site inspections.
- Supervise and assess skilled personnel, ensuring safe working practices are maintained.
- Support project works, upgrades and lifecycle replacement programmes.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability and sustainability of mechanical assets.
- Investigate faults, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Participate in an out-of-hours on‑call rota when required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have
- NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong experience maintaining commercial or industrial mechanical building services.
- Knowledge of pumps, valves, HVAC systems, pipework, pressurised systems and associated plant.
- Experience working with safe systems of work, permits and compliance procedures.
- Excellent fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to manage priorities across multiple sites and projects.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Authorised Person (AP) status in Mechanical or related disciplines.
- Experience within highly regulated environments.
- Knowledge of compliance‑led maintenance environments and industry standards.
