- Further details about the role
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our friendly team of Casual Exam Invigilators.
The purpose of the role is to ensure that examinations are conducted in accordance to the regulations and that all students have the opportunity to perform to the best of their ability.
Invigilators supervise students during the examinations, ensuring that official guidelines and regulations are met, to ensure the integrity and security of exam papers and procedures.
You will normally be stationed in either a large hall, or a smaller room, and monitor students to ensure they are acting appropriately in line with school and exam procedures, this includes whilst escorting them to the toilet.
You may be asked to assist with setting up exam rooms - laying out papers, equipment and stationery, and again collecting these in at the end.
Some invigilators also support with scribing or reading to students with additional needs - you will be asked about your preferences during the interview process.
You should be flexible, have clear and effective communication skills and enjoy working in a busy environment with young people.
Previous experience is not required as full training will be given.
You will need to be able to stand for long periods of time (around 2.5 hours)
Staff and pupils work extremely hard to prepare for examinations.
Therefore, to ensure adequate staffing for their smooth running it is particularly important that our Invigilators are reliable and committed to the periods they agree to work.
Our peak exam seasons tend to be October and Feb/March for mock exams, and May/June for the formal GCSE exams.
Exact working hours will be negotiated and agreed for each exam period.
