A brand-new role within our busy multi-disciplined communications team, the Internal Communications Business Partner will be essential in helping us deliver a first-class communications service in the years ahead.

As a trusted advisor, natural team player and storyteller, you will work with leaders and colleagues across the Group to deliver internal communications that help staff feel informed, engaged and inspired. By connecting colleagues to our purpose, strategy, values and priorities, you will support organisational change, improve the flow of information, and strengthen our positive and inclusive culture. Your contribution will be instrumental in helping the communications team to provide an excellent service every day, while supporting the successful delivery of our longer-term strategic ambitions.

Key accountabilities:

  • Work closely with senior leaders to deliver our organisational narrative through internal communications, aligned with the Group’s strategy, purpose, values and behaviours.
  • Help to shape and deliver the organisation’s communications strategy, identifying and implementing ways to improve how we share information with staff working in different business areas within the Group.
  • Plan and lead the implementation of data-led internal communication projects and campaigns for segmented audiences working within the Group, keeping colleagues updated and ensuring content is engaging and accurate.
  • Create, edit and proof-read internal communications material to ensure consistency and compliance with the Group’s values, key messages and brand guidelines, ghost-writing for staff when required.
  • Plan and implement a calendar of internal communications activity, working with colleagues across the communications team to identify where internal and external requirements can be coordinated, and work together for delivery.
  • Manage and drive continuous improvement of the Group’s internal communications channels, including staff briefings, events, newsletters and the intranet, evaluating activities to inform future development.
  • Work closely and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and teams across the Group, understanding different perspectives and finding creative solutions to deliver best practice internal communications work.
  • Be a professional advisor for colleagues to increase staff engagement and sharing of information, including the provision of coaching and support to Communications Officers to complete tasks and drive service excellence.
  • Ensure the procurement of communications work is within budget and achieves value for money.
  • Support the Head of Communications and wider communications team with crisis communications, following our Communications Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plan.

Personal requirements:

Essential:

  • Proven experience of working in a senior communications, internal communications or public relations role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, engaging and audience-focused communications for different channels.
  • Experience of planning and delivering internal communications campaigns, projects and channel activity, using insight and feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Experience of supporting organisational change through effective communications and colleague engagement.
  • Ability to build positive and effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels, providing trusted advice and influencing outcomes.
  • Commitment to equality, equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility, with the ability to apply these principles to communications activity.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines, delivering high-quality work from planning through to completion.
  • Sound professional judgement, including the ability to handle sensitive issues, balance risk and organisational impact, maintain confidentiality and communicate effectively under pressure.

Desirable:

  • Ability to communicate in spoken and written Welsh.
  • Experience of working within a Group structure.
  • Experience of compliance with Welsh Language Standards Regulation.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Viva.
  • Professional Membership of CIPR or equivalent, or willingness to become a member and work towards gaining CPD or qualifications relevant to effective communications.
  • An understanding of the housing sector, political agenda, and regulatory landscape for social housing providers.
