A leading specialist organisation within the compliance and life safety sector is looking to appoint a Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to lead and develop its HSE function.

Your new role

As Health, Safety and Environmental Manager, you will take a leading role in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the organisation's health, safety and environmental management systems.

Working closely with senior leadership, you will provide both strategic direction and hands‑on support across multiple operational sites.

Key responsibilities will include

  • Leading and maintaining management systems aligned to ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Managing internal audits, inspections, and management reviews to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Developing and reviewing HSE policies, procedures, risk assessments, RAMS and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Monitoring and managing corrective actions, non‑conformities and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conducting workplace inspections and providing practical HSE guidance to managers, employees and subcontractors.
  • Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Delivering HSE training, inductions and awareness programmes across the business.
  • Monitoring HSE performance, reporting on trends and supporting delivery of business objectives and KPIs.
  • Promoting a positive safety culture and ensuring health, safety and environmental considerations remain central to operational decision‑making.
  • What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will have

  • Demonstrable experience working with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
  • Experience implementing, maintaining or improving management systems within a complex operational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and associated compliance requirements.
  • Experience carrying out risk assessments, workplace inspections, audits and incident investigations.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and report‑writing skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • The confidence to provide practical advice and positively challenge unsafe practices when required.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites as required.

Desirable qualifications include a NEBOSH Environmental qualification, knowledge of ISO9001, auditing experience, and membership of IOSH, IEMA, CQI or another relevant professional body.
