We are looking to recruit a Registered Band 5 Staff Nurses to join the enthusiastic team on the Acute Medical Unit.
Job Summary:
- Be responsible for the assessment of care needs, the planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care
- Supervise junior staff and participate in the teaching of students on both basic and post basic courses
- Maintain personal and professional development
- Participate in effective utilisation of resources
- Act in accordance with the NMC Professional Code of Conduct
- Proven post registration experience is required for this role.
Our Acute Medical Unit is a busy, fast-paced 50-bedded department, offering an excellent opportunity to develop a broad range of clinical skills and knowledge across multiple specialties. Working within a dynamic multidisciplinary team, you will gain valuable experience in the assessment, treatment and management of acutely unwell patients in a supportive, challenging and rewarding environment.
Main Duties:
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for acutely unwell patients admitted to the Acute Medical Unit
- Monitor patients' clinical condition, recognising and responding promptly to signs of deterioration
- Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with Trust policies and professional standards
- Undertake a range of clinical skills including venepuncture, cannulation, ECG recording, catheterisation and intravenous therapy
- Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and facilitate timely discharge planning
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive and up-to-date patient records and documentation
- Deliver compassionate, patient-centred care while supporting patients and their families throughout their admission
- Prioritise and manage workload effectively within a busy and fast-paced environment
- Promote patient safety, infection prevention and safeguarding practices at all times
- Support, supervise and mentor junior staff, students and new team members as appropriate
