We are looking for an experienced and motivated senior leader to join Adult Services as Head of Service for Learning Disabilities, Autism and Preparing for Adulthood. This is an exciting opportunity to lead services at a significant time for Adult Services. The department is on a journey of improvement and transformation, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality, person-centred support that enables people to live independent, fulfilling lives and achieve their aspirations.
As Head of Service, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for Learning Disabilities, Autism and Preparing for Adulthood services. Reporting to the Assistant Director for Operations, you will lead service managers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, effective and outcome-focused services. You will play a key role in driving service improvement, strengthening practice, ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities and improving outcomes for individuals, families and carers.
Working closely with the Assistant Director, senior leaders and partner organisations across health, education and the voluntary sector, you will help shape and deliver services that support people through key life transitions and promote independence, inclusion and wellbeing.
We are looking for an experienced senior manager with a strong track record of leading complex operational services, managing change and delivering measurable improvements. You will bring visible and credible leadership, excellent partnership-working skills and a commitment to co-production and person-centred practice.
This role offers an opportunity to influence the future direction of services for people with learning disabilities, autistic people and young adults preparing for adulthood, making a lasting impact on the lives of local residents and their communities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing strategic and operational leadership for Learning Disabilities, Autism and Preparing for Adulthood services.
- Leading and supporting service managers and operational teams.
- Driving service improvement, performance and transformation programmes.
- Ensuring high-quality, person-centred practice and positive outcomes for residents.
- Supporting effective transition arrangements from Children's to Adult Services.
- Developing strong partnerships with health, education, providers, families and community organisations.
- Ensuring compliance with statutory duties, safeguarding responsibilities and regulatory requirements.
- Supporting the delivery of the Adult Services vision, priorities and improvement agenda.
This role reports directly to the Assistant Director for Operations and is a key member of the Adult Services leadership team.
