Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently operate 360 excavators on highways, roadworks and structures projects.
  • Undertake excavation and earthworks, including bulk excavation, reduced-level digs, trenching and grading.
  • Carry out drainage, ducting, foundations and service installation works.
  • Assist with road construction, formation, kerbing, footways and associated groundwork.
  • Work around existing underground and overhead services, maintaining a high level of awareness and control.
  • Assist with structural works, including excavation around foundations, abutments, retaining walls and other structures.
  • Carry out lifting operations using the excavator where authorised and within the operator's competency.
  • Work from construction drawings, site plans, levels and instructions from supervisors or engineers.
  • Maintain accurate control of excavation levels and profiles where required.
  • Conduct daily plant checks and report defects, damage or maintenance requirements immediately.
  • Ensure excavator attachments are correctly fitted and used safely.
  • Work closely with groundworkers, banksmen, site supervisors, engineers and other plant operators.
  • Maintain safe exclusion zones and follow site traffic management arrangements.
  • Comply with all company, client and project-specific health and safety procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and environmental control.
  • Complete work to the required programme, specification and quality standards.
  • Proven experience as a

360 Excavator Operator within highways, civil engineering or major infrastructure projects.

  • Valid

CPCS or NPORS 360 Excavator qualification .

  • Experience working on highways and road construction projects.
  • Experience with excavation, drainage, earthworks and service installation.
  • Good understanding of safe digging practices and working around live services.
  • Ability to work effectively alongside groundworkers and site management.
  • Strong awareness of health and safety requirements.
  • Reliable, punctual and professional approach to work.
  • Ability to follow site drawings, instructions and excavation plans.
  • Experience working on major highways or infrastructure schemes.
  • Experience working around structures, bridges, retaining walls and foundations.
  • Experience with GPS/machine control systems.
  • Experience using a variety of excavator attachments.
  • Experience working on live or high-risk highway environments.
  • Knowledge of temporary works and excavation support systems.
  • Full UK driving licence.
