Summary: We’re looking for an EHS Monitoring Technician to join a key project in Bridgwater, Somerset.
This hands‑on, field-based role will support exposure monitoring and occupational hygiene programmes, helping to manage and reduce workplace health risks.

Location and Working Pattern: Bridgwater, Somerset – site-based role
Client Overview: Our client operates within the engineering and construction sector, delivering large-scale and complex projects with a strong focus on safety and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Carry out personal and static monitoring for airborne contaminants such as dusts, fumes, and vapours.
- Deploy and retrieve noise dosimeters and perform static sound level monitoring.
- Conduct hand‑arm vibration assessments and record exposure times.
- Perform checks for respiratory protective equipment (RPE) and support face fit testing (training provided).
- Calibrate and maintain monitoring equipment in line with standard procedures.
- Accurately record and submit exposure data for analysis.
- Conduct site inspections to identify potential health risks.
- Support health risk assessments and deliver toolbox talks where required.
- Maintain sampling media, equipment logs, and inventories.
- Liaise with site teams to schedule and execute monitoring activities with minimal disruption.
- Must-have Requirements
- Proactive, self-motivated approach with strong problem‑solving skills.
- Comfortable working in construction environments, including at height, confined spaces, and outdoors.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures precisely.
- Basic IT skills, including Excel and data entry.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to health, safety, and wellbeing.

- Previous experience in EHS, occupational hygiene, or construction technician roles.
- Familiarity with air quality, noise, vibration, or RPE monitoring.
- Any BOHS P or M module completions (e. g. P100 series, P601).
- Current Face Fit Tester accreditation (or willingness to train).
- Face fit tester certification and occupational health hazard awareness.
- Funded BOHS modules (subject to progression).
- On‑the‑job coaching, competency logbook, and CPD plan.
- Long-term progression towards full occupational hygiene technician competencies.
