We are seeking a Clinical Fellow to join our dynamic Respiratory team at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust.
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to develop their clinical expertise within a supportive and forward-thinking department.
This role will provide high-quality care for patients with respiratory conditions across inpatient wards, outpatient clinics, and multidisciplinary team settings.
The post holder will work as part of the Respiratory Medicine team, supporting consultants and contributing to service delivery, education, and clinical governance.
- Direct Clinical Care
- Participate in daily respiratory ward rounds and inpatient care.
- Manage acute respiratory admissions and ward referrals.
- Conduct outpatient respiratory clinics (general and specialist, e. g., asthma, COPD, ILD).
- Perform diagnostic procedures such as bronchoscopy and EBUS (training provided if required).
- Perform pleural procedures such as chest drains and pleural aspirates.
- Attend and contribute to Lung Cancer MDT meetings.
- Provide advice to other specialties on respiratory issues.
- Supporting Professional Activities
- Participate in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement projects.
- Engage in CPD and mandatory training.
- Contribute to teaching of medical students and junior doctors.
- Participate in departmental meetings and service development.
UHD are investing, developing and transforming Trust services in line with the New Hospital Programme.
As part of this, some services may move site this year or next, either temporarily or permanently.

It is expected respiratory wards at Poole Hospital will move to The Royal Bournemouth Hospital in the summer of 2026 (date tbc).
If a role or service relocates as part of a planned move, excess mileage will not be reimbursed.
Travel from home to the new work base will be classed as a normal commute.
Any other changes will be managed under Trust or national terms and conditions.
