We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Medical Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis.
This position is well-suited to a hard worker who is looking to gain further experience in a hospital environment.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of medical devices and working in a clinical environment. This role is subject to Standard DBS disclosure.
Job Role
- Commission, repair, maintain, overhaul and recalibrate the range of electronic equipment and medical devices in use within Bolton Hospitals FT.
- Pull reports from the department’s database to provide client information and support the monitoring of performance indicators.
- Be aware of information governance regulations and cyber-security issues, particularly in relation to medical devices which may transmit data or hold patient related information.
- Prioritise and negotiate with other healthcare professionals in obtaining access to medical equipment in order to perform routine maintenance and/or repairs at mutually convenient time.
- Carry out tests on equipment in the investigation of adverse incidents, evaluate results and compile incident reports, making appropriate recommendations and ensuring confidentiality.
- Act independently, promptly and efficiently in response to emergency and unpredictable situations as reported by clinicians and nursing staff.
- Applicants may be required to participate when required in an on-call rota.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- BEng in relevant subject or HNC/HND with appropriate experience.
- Fully conversant with MHRA’s Managing Medical Devices April 2015 Guidelines.
- Practical experience in electronic engineering or relevant maintenance techniques.
- Full UK Driving licence.
- Use of computer and keyboard skills.
- Use of email and other MS Office software.
- Working knowledge of physiological measurements.
