The Medical Rostering Project Lead is responsible for leading the implementation and ongoing development of the Trust's medical e-rostering system for medical and dental staff. The post holder will act as the Trust's lead specialist for medical rostering, providing expert advice, system leadership and operational support to maximise workforce utilisation, improve compliance and support safe patient care.

Working with clinical, operational and workforce teams, the post holder will oversee system configuration, reporting, training, governance and continuous improvement activities. They will support delivery of workforce transformation objectives through effective rostering practices, high-quality data and meaningful management information.

The role includes responsibility for stakeholder engagement, supplier liaison and the line management of the Medical Rostering Project Support Officer, ensuring delivery of a responsive, customer-focused medical rostering service across the Trust.

The Medical Rostering Project Lead will provide specialist leadership for the Trust's medical e-rostering system, ensuring it supports the safe, effective and efficient deployment of medical and dental staff. They will lead system implementation, optimisation and ongoing development, working with clinical, operational and workforce teams to promote best practice and maximise the benefits of digital rostering.

The post holder will provide expert advice on medical rostering, oversee training, reporting and stakeholder engagement activities, and support services to improve workforce planning, compliance and productivity. They will analyse workforce data, develop management information and support decision-making at operational and strategic levels.

The role includes responsibility for managing relationships with system suppliers and key stakeholders, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and line managing the Medical Rostering Project Support Officer to ensure delivery of a high-quality, customer-focused service.

The Medical Rostering Project Lead will provide strategic and operational leadership for the Trust's medical e-rostering system, acting as the principal point of expertise for system configuration, governance, implementation, optimisation and ongoing development. The post holder will work closely with clinical, operational and corporate stakeholders to ensure the system supports the safe, effective and efficient deployment of medical and dental staff and contributes to the Trust's wider workforce transformation objectives.

The post holder will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the e-rostering system, ensuring that organisational structures, workforce data, roster templates, approval workflows and business rules are accurately configured and maintained. They will oversee the production and publication of medical rosters, monitor system utilisation and compliance, and ensure that services are supported to adopt standardised rostering practices that align with Trust policy and national guidance.

Working with Divisional Directors, Clinical Leads, Rota Coordinators and Service Managers, the post holder will provide expert advice and guidance on all aspects of medical rostering. They will support services to review and improve roster design, identify opportunities to improve workforce deployment and productivity, and ensure that rostering processes effectively support operational service delivery requirements.

The post holder will lead the development and delivery of training programmes, user guidance and communication materials to support both implementation and business-as-usual operation of the system. They will act as the Trust's lead trainer for medical rostering, ensuring that users have the necessary knowledge and skills to utilise the system effectively and consistently.

A significant element of the role will involve data analysis, reporting and benefits realisation. The post holder will develop and maintain reporting solutions that enable services to understand workforce capacity, roster performance, resource utilisation and compliance. They will analyse complex workforce information and present findings, recommendations and progress updates to senior managers, clinical leaders and governance groups to support operational and strategic decision-making.

The post holder will work closely with the system supplier and regional partners to identify opportunities to improve system functionality, implement upgrades and participate in user groups and development initiatives. They will evaluate proposed system enhancements, coordinate testing activities and ensure that changes are safely implemented with minimal operational disruption.

The role requires the establishment and maintenance of effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders across the organisation. The post holder will influence and support clinical and managerial colleagues to adopt best practice approaches to rostering, resolve complex operational and technical issues, and promote the benefits of digital workforce management solutions throughout the Trust.

The Medical Rostering Project Lead will be responsible for the line management, supervision and development of the Medical Rostering Project Support Officer. They will provide leadership, prioritise workloads, oversee performance and support the development of knowledge and capability within the team to ensure delivery of a responsive, customer-focused service.

The post holder will ensure that all activities are undertaken in accordance with Information Governance requirements, Trust policies, employment legislation, contractual requirements and relevant NHS standards. They will contribute to audit activity, service improvement initiatives, workforce transformation programmes and other projects that support the effective deployment and management of the Trust's medical workforce.

Finally, the post holder will act as an ambassador for medical rostering and workforce systems across the organisation, promoting innovation, continuous improvement and evidence-based workforce planning to support delivery of high-quality patient care and organisational objectives.
