The Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity to start a career within the motor vehicle industry. We’re looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Apprentice Heavy Vehicle Maintenance Technician. As an apprentice, you’ll work alongside experienced technicians, learning how to maintain and repair heavy vehicles such as vans, trucks, buses and plant machinery. You will have an opportunity to gain workshop experience whilst studying towards an industry recognised qualification in heavy vehicle maintenance and repair.

About You:

A genuine interest in vehicle mechanics and engineering is key for this apprenticeship. However, you must also be willing to put in the study work to achieve your qualification and have a flexible approach to work requirements, travelling to different locations within the Authority, attending college and training centres as required. This is a development role, in which you will be expected to meet levels set by your tutor or mentor. You must be a team player and able to work and communicate clearly with others, whilst also being able to work well on your own initiative at times. You should have GCSE Maths and English (4-9, or A*-C) or level 2 functional skills (or expected to achieve by September 2026). If you are under the age of 19 at the start of the apprenticeship and do not already hold GCSE Maths and English (4-9, or A*-C) or equivalent, you must commit to achieving these within the duration of the apprenticeship. You will be required to complete a Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician apprenticeship. Therefore, you must not already hold a Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician or similar qualification at a Level 3 or above.
