Hays Education are working with a number of inclusive and supportive primary schools in the Druids Heath (B14) area who are looking to appoint caring, patient and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants and 1:1 Support Assistants for the new academic year starting in September 2026.

Your new role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant or 1:1 Support Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them to thrive both academically and socially.

Responsibilities may include

  • Providing 1:1 support for pupils with SEN
  • Supporting children with Autism (ASD), ADHD, speech and language needs, and other additional learning needs
  • Implementing strategies to support behaviour and engagement
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and social development
  • Working closely with class teachers, SENCOs and other professionals
  • Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment

Roles are available on both a full-time and part-time basis, with long-term opportunities throughout the academic year.

  • What you'll need to succeed
  • Have experience supporting children with SEN, either in schools or other child-focused settings
  • Are patient, empathetic and resilient
  • Have experience working on a 1:1 basis or with small intervention groups
  • Are confident building positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Have a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Hold a relevant qualification (desirable but not essential)

Experience in personal care, behaviour support, Makaton, PECS, Team Teach or similar interventions would be advantageous.
