TeacherActive is proud to be working with a fantastic SEND school in Birmingham, supporting children and young people of all ages with a range of additional needs. The school provides a nurturing and structured environment where every pupil is encouraged to develop academically, socially and emotionally, with a strong focus on positive relationships and individual progress.

The school is looking to appoint a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant on a full-time, long-term basis with an immediate start. The successful SEMH Teaching Assistant will support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, as well as a range of additional learning needs, both inside and outside the classroom. Experience working with challenging behaviour is essential, and applicants must be willing to provide personal care when required to ensure pupils receive the highest level of support.

The successful SEMH Teaching Assistant will have:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or additional needs
  • Experience managing challenging behaviour in an education or care setting
  • A patient, resilient and proactive approach to supporting learning
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A willingness to provide personal care where required
  • Team Teach or other relevant behaviour management training is desirable but not essential
