A Secondary School in North Birmingham is looking for an enthusiastic Science Technician to join their dynamic science department for a long term cover.

The role is a long term cover from 8.00 am - 4.00 pm and is every Monday to Friday and term time only.

Your new role

The school are seeking an enthusiastic, organised and proactive Science Technician to join their successful Secondary School in Birmingham.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality science education across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Working closely with teaching staff, you will ensure practical lessons are prepared safely and effectively, helping to create an engaging learning environment for our students.

The role will entail

  • Prepare equipment, materials and chemicals for practical science lessons.
  • Set up and clear away laboratory experiments and demonstrations.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and resources.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Assist with stock control and ordering of science supplies.
  • Carry out risk assessments and maintain safety records.
  • Support teachers and students during practical activities when required.
  • Keep laboratories, preparation rooms and storage areas organised and tidy.
  • What you'll need to succeed

You will have experience working in a laboratory, educational setting or scientific environment with good knowledge of health and safety procedures.

You will also have strong organisational and time management skills with the he ability to work independently and as part of a team.

You will also have recent and satisfactory references that Hays can obtain for you.
