We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering innovative and sustainable engineering solutions across the UK and internationally.

The business operates across a diverse range of sectors including healthcare, education, residential, commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical and public sector developments.

With a dedicated Power Systems team and a strong focus on technical excellence, the company provides specialist support on complex electrical infrastructure and power distribution projects ranging from low voltage networks through to high voltage systems.

Your new role

As a Power Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering specialist electrical power infrastructure designs and providing technical expertise on projects across multiple sectors.

  • Working as part of a dedicated power engineering team, your responsibilities will include:
  • Designing electrical distribution systems from LV through to HV networks
  • Producing power system studies including load flow, fault level, protection coordination and network analysis
  • Developing substation, cable network and electrical infrastructure designs
  • Carrying out site surveys and assessing the condition and suitability of existing installations
  • Producing technical reports, calculations, specifications and design documentation
  • Liaising with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) regarding new connections, network upgrades and generation applications
  • Supporting renewable energy and embedded generation projects, including G99 applications
  • Attending client and design team meetings to present technical solutions
  • Inspecting installations on site and reviewing contractor works during project delivery and commissioning

You will be involved in a wide variety of technically challenging projects and will have the opportunity to further develop your expertise within specialist power systems engineering.

  • What you'll need to succeed
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience working within a power systems, electrical engineering or consulting engineering environment
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution networks, substations and power infrastructure projects
  • Experience using software such as ETAP, IPSA+, ERACS, DIg SILENT Power Factory, Trimble, Electrical OM or similar packages
  • Proficiency in Auto CAD, with Revit experience beneficial but not essential
  • Understanding of power system studies, including protection, grading and fault analysis
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary teams
  • Desire to continue developing technical knowledge and progress professionally
