Part Time SEN Children's Family Practitioner
We are working on behalf of a children's charity who are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Early Years Practitioner to join their Children's Services team.
You will be working as part of a supportive team, and you will help create a welcoming, inclusive and stimulating environment where children's individual needs are understood, supported and celebrated.
The role is to start as soon as possible and will run to September and possibly beyond on a temporary basis.
What you\'ll be doing
- Based at a centre supporting children from 0 to 4 and their families
- Role is Monday to Thursday, 9 am to 4 pm each day - 26 hours per week
- Supporting children\'s learning, development and wellbeing through effective indoor and outdoor play experiences.
- Building positive relationships with children, parents and carers while sharing appropriate information about each child\'s needs and progress.
- Working within a key person system to observe, review and evaluate children\'s progress, maintaining accurate records to support planning.
- Maintaining high standards of health, safety, safeguarding and child protection in line with policies and procedures.
- Contributing to learning programmes for individual children or groups, appropriate to their needs and developmental stages.
- Preparing rooms and dedicated areas, supporting safe staffing ratios and effective use of resources.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and multi-agency partners to achieve positive outcomes for children and families.
- Where required, safely administering medication in line with policy and procedure.
- What we\'re looking for
- A relevant Early Years and child protection qualification, or the ability to achieve this within an agreed timeframe.
- A Paediatric First Aid qualification, or willingness to achieve this within an agreed timeframe.
- A Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, or willingness to achieve this within an agreed timeframe.
- Experience in an early years childcare setting or working with children aged 0 to 4 years.
- Knowledge of children\'s physical, intellectual, emotional and social development.
- A creative, reflective and child-centred approach to work.
- Strong communication and listening skills, with the ability to keep accurate records.
- An understanding of health and safety, safeguarding, basic food hygiene, equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Willingness to take part in training and share learning with colleagues.
Additional experience that would be helpful
- Experience preparing and supervising a dedicated room or area within an Early Years setting.
- Experience directing, guiding or mentoring less experienced colleagues.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, colleagues and multi-agency partners.
- Experience developing plans and activities to support children with additional or special requirements.
- Experience responding to child protection and safeguarding issues for children aged 0 to 4 years.
- Confidence applying equality, diversity and inclusion policies within an Early Years environment.
