St John Ambulance works at the heart of communities, supporting and enabling them to access and receive physical and mental health first aid. We do this through developing and providing effective community response and outreach services (e.g. Ambulance response) and using our longstanding expertise to empower people with vital clinical skills and the confidence to use them (e.g. our Volunteers and Community Advocates, and Young Responders programmes).

At St John Ambulance, England’s leading first aid charity, we’re on an ambitious journey to become the market leader in Event Healthcare and we’re looking for a Resourcing & Workforce Partner to help make it happen. In this pivotal role, you’ll shape and deliver our blended workforce model, driving the strategy for both casual and employed colleagues to support our growth. Working in close partnership with key stakeholders, you’ll use data-driven insights, geographic and capacity planning, and an understanding of market trends to identify opportunities, maximise workforce effectiveness, and enable informed, joined-up decision making across the organisation.

Proven experience in workforce planning and demand forecasting, with the ability to identify gaps and opportunities. Experience managing casual and/or contract workforces within a competitive, commercial environment. Strong track record of leading change programmes and building agile processes that support effective delivery. Ability to think strategically, translate goals into operational plans, and manage performance and outcomes. Skilled in problem-solving, risk management, and influencing stakeholders to achieve effective, timely solutions. An inclusive and emotionally intelligent leader, experienced in building high-performing teams and fostering a collaborative, feedback-driven culture.

Develop and pilot a new workforce resourcing model, evaluating outcomes to shape future direction. Lead and manage the workforce programme, including line management responsibilities as it grows. Oversee casual and employed workforce management to ensure effective deployment and performance. Collaborate with internal functions and operational teams to resolve challenges and support service delivery. Use data, market insights, and stakeholder input to inform planning, forecasting, and organisational growth. Promote an inclusive, collaborative culture that empowers colleagues and drives continuous improvement.
