We are currently recruiting for a proactive and skilled Brickwork Technician to join a well-established Further Education college in Birmingham on a full-time, ongoing temporary basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional to play a key role in supporting the delivery of Brickwork and Construction programmes.
The successful candidate will ensure workshops are well-maintained, equipped, and ready for practical teaching sessions, helping learners gain hands‑on experience in a safe and professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare workshops, materials, tools, and equipment for practical Brickwork lessons.
- Maintain brickwork bays, construction areas, and associated resources.
- Support lecturers and learners during practical sessions where required.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering materials and equipment.
- Carry out routine maintenance and basic repairs on workshop tools and equipment.
- Ensure workshops comply with health and safety regulations and college policies.
- Assist with setting up assessments, demonstrations, open days, and student events.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory, equipment servicing, and safety checks.
Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Brickwork, Construction, or a related trade.
- Industry experience within brickwork or the wider construction sector.
- Strong practical knowledge of bricklaying tools, materials, and workshop environments.
- Understanding of health and safety requirements within construction settings.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Previous experience in an educational environment is desirable but not essential.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
