We are currently recruiting for a proactive and skilled Brickwork Technician to join a well-established Further Education college in Birmingham on a full-time, ongoing temporary basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional to play a key role in supporting the delivery of Brickwork and Construction programmes.

The successful candidate will ensure workshops are well-maintained, equipped, and ready for practical teaching sessions, helping learners gain hands‑on experience in a safe and professional environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare workshops, materials, tools, and equipment for practical Brickwork lessons.
  • Maintain brickwork bays, construction areas, and associated resources.
  • Support lecturers and learners during practical sessions where required.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering materials and equipment.
  • Carry out routine maintenance and basic repairs on workshop tools and equipment.
  • Ensure workshops comply with health and safety regulations and college policies.
  • Assist with setting up assessments, demonstrations, open days, and student events.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory, equipment servicing, and safety checks.

Requirements

  • Relevant qualification in Brickwork, Construction, or a related trade.
  • Industry experience within brickwork or the wider construction sector.
  • Strong practical knowledge of bricklaying tools, materials, and workshop environments.
  • Understanding of health and safety requirements within construction settings.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Previous experience in an educational environment is desirable but not essential.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
