About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an Admin Officer (AO) to join a busy Civil Service team based at Aqua House, Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive administrator looking to gain valuable experience within a government department.
As an Admin Officer, you will provide essential administrative support, helping to ensure the smooth running of day-to-day operations. You will work closely with colleagues and senior staff, maintaining records, handling enquiries, and supporting the effective flow of information across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining accurate records and databases
- Handling enquiries from the public and internal stakeholders via telephone, email, and in person
- Providing administrative support to senior staff and wider teams
- Processing and managing documentation in line with departmental procedures
- Supporting effective communication and information sharing across the organisation
- Ensuring records are stored and maintained accurately and confidentially
- Assisting with general office administration and business support activities
Skills & Experience
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
- Previous administrative or office-based experience
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work accurately with attention to detail
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines
- A professional and customer-focused approach
Training
Full on-the-job training will be provided. No holiday restrictions during the training period. No travel required for training.
Additional Information
Criminal convictions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Basic DBS clearance is required prior to appointment. The role may be extended following the initial assignment period, subject to business requirements.
