We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and skilled Paediatric Physiotherapist to join the Regional Specialist Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) Service. The post-holder will play a key role in the assessment, treatment, and ongoing management of children with neurological conditions who may benefit from FES as part of their rehabilitation programme.

The role involves undertaking comprehensive assessments, determining suitability for FES treatment, and developing personalised treatment plans using advanced clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice. Responsibilities also include the provision and management of FES devices, delivering education and training to patients, parents, carers, and healthcare professionals, and undertaking follow-up reviews in line with clinical requirements and Medical Devices Policy.

The post-holder will support patients and their families with the holistic management of complex neurological conditions, promoting independence, mobility, and maximising rehabilitation outcomes. This is an excellent opportunity for a clinician with an interest in paediatric neurological rehabilitation and specialist technologies to contribute to the delivery and development of an innovative regional service.

  • Assess children referred to the Regional Specialist FES Service and develop individualised treatment plans.
  • Deliver, fit and review Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) equipment, providing training and ongoing support.
  • Provide specialist paediatric neurological physiotherapy interventions to maximise mobility, independence and rehabilitation outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies to coordinate holistic patient care.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records, reports and outcome measures in line with professional and Trust standards.
  • Manage a complex caseload, contribute to service development, clinical audit, research and quality improvement activities.
  • Support, supervise and develop students, assistants and colleagues, promoting evidence-based practice and continuous learning.
