Band 3 Health Care Assistant – Children’s Complex Care.
We are looking for confident, innovative Health Care Assistants to join our Children’s Complex Care team working across Birmingham.
The role involves providing basic nursing care and specialist care for children with complex disabilities due to chronic disease, congenital abnormalities, trauma, or who are terminally ill and at the end of their life.
The post holder works as part of the nursing team and supports other multidisciplinary team members, and may work within the service user’s home, hospital, hospice, school, or day centre depending on individual needs.
Key responsibilities include delivering care in a variety of settings (home and school), performing clinical skills such as gastrostomy feeding, suction, and oxygen therapy under a competency‑based framework.
You will receive continued support in the role.
Required qualifications: a good level of basic education including computer skills, and at least NVQ Level 3 in a child or young adult related subject or equivalent experience.
Experience working with ventilated children or those with complex health problems is beneficial but not essential.
You must be innovative in providing play and learning opportunities and able to work flexibly in the community, collaborate with other healthcare professionals, services, and agencies.
