This is an excellent opportunity for a junior lawyer to develop their career within a supportive legal team.

You will manage your own caseload while receiving guidance and mentoring from experienced lawyers.

Our Property Law Team provides specialist advice on a wide range of work, including land acquisition and disposal, commercial property matters, strategic infrastructure projects, biodiversity net gain, and the Environment Agency’s Land Strategy.

The work typically includes title investigations, drafting and negotiating leases, licences, easements, transfers and other property documents necessary for the Environment Agency to deliver its statutory functions.

You'll work across the Property Law Team, supporting colleagues on a broad range of matters and helping to deliver key national projects.

Responsibilities may include acquisitions and disposals of freehold and leasehold interests, commercial landlord and tenant work, management of the Environment Agency's property assets and agricultural land matters.

We recognise that excellent lawyers come from a variety of backgrounds.

We welcome applications from candidates with property law experience, as well as those with transferable skills gained in other legal disciplines who are looking to develop their property law expertise.

The role is full-time (37 hours per week), although we welcome applications from candidates seeking flexible working arrangements, including part-time working and job share opportunities.

The team

The Property Law Team consists of 14 lawyers, 2 paralegals and 3 Team Leaders and forms part of the Legal and Audit Services team.

We are a friendly, collaborative and supportive team committed to helping colleagues develop and succeed.

Everyone joining the team receives training, mentoring and ongoing support to build their skills and confidence.

Together, we provide high-quality legal advice that helps the Environment Agency deliver important operational and environmental outcomes across England.
