Duties of a Vehicle Technician:
- Perform scheduled servicing, maintenance, and inspections on motor and commercial vehicles
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using various diagnostic tools and wiring diagrams
- Conduct fault-finding, repairs, and refurbishments on diverse vehicle types including off-road equipment
- Assist in pre-delivery inspections on new and pre-owned vehicles
- Promote dealership services and products effectively to customers
- Attend manufacturer training courses to stay current with the latest vehicle technologies
- Complete detailed job cards and work orders accurately
- Maintain workshop safety standards and cleanliness
- Support junior technicians and apprentices through mentoring and training
- Assist with tyre replacements, wheel alignments, and general workshop duties
Requirements of a Vehicle Technician:
- Proven experience as a Service Vehicle Technician or similar role within the motor trade
- Strong diagnostic, repair, and routine servicing skills
- Familiarity with commercial vehicles, passenger cars, and off-road equipment
- Own tools preferred; manufacturer-supplied tools and PPE provided
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Organisational skills to work efficiently under pressure
- Flexibility to work various shifts and support out-of-hours work if required
- Knowledge or experience of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) is advantageous
- Enthusiastic team player with a proactive approach to learning and development
