Salary: minimum wage until satisfactory 3 month probationary period has been worked then increases

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Years Practitioner to join our small friendly nursery.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the development and well being of young children within a nurturing and stimulating environment.

This position offers an opportunity to utilise your early years skills while working closely with children to foster their growth and learning.

The role is suitable for individuals with experience in childcare, nursery settings, or early childhood education, who are committed to creating a safe and engaging space for children to thrive.

Duties

  • Plan and implement age appropriate activities that promote physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
  • Support children's learning through play, exploration, and structured educational activities.
  • Ensure the safety and well being of all children at all times, adhering to safeguarding policies.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming environment for children and staff.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding children's progress and daily routines.
  • Support colleagues in managing behaviour and fostering positive relationships among children.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to child records, attendance, and activity planning.
  • Contribute to the organisation of outings or trips.
  • Lead by example in demonstrating professionalism, management skills, and leadership within the team.

Experience

  • Proven experience working with children in a nursery or early childhood setting.
  • Knowledge of early childhood education principles and childcare regulations.
  • Demonstrable management or leadership experience within a childcare environment.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Experience in organising activities that support child development milestones.
  • Previous experience with nursery management or supervising staff is advantageous.
