Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a doctor to join our Resident Doctor rota to provide cover for a Resident Doctor vacancy from August 2026 to February 2027. The successful applicant will be based on Oaktrees Ward at Springview, a 14-bed regional specialist inpatient unit for people with eating disorders. Oaktrees Ward provides specialist assessment, treatment, and support for individuals requiring inpatient care for eating disorders within a highly skilled multidisciplinary environment.

The post holder will work closely with, and be supervised by, the Consultant Psychiatrists within the Eating Disorders Unit, with access to regular clinical supervision and support. This post offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in specialist inpatient eating disorder services while contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

We welcome applications from enthusiastic and motivated doctors who have an interest in mental health and who are keen to develop their clinical skills within a specialist inpatient setting. The post holder will participate in outpatient clinics of the community team as the weekly schedule of the team under consultant supervision. The post holder will participate in the multidisciplinary clinical meetings either in the acute care setting or community mental health team settings depending upon the schedule of the team in which they are based.

The work will consist of assessments of emergency and crisis, usually hospital based, together with ongoing care under the supervision of the consultant involving a spectrum of activities such as clerking patients in, documentation of history taking, assessment of mental states, conducting physical examinations, ongoing note keeping, timely completion of discharge summaries, prescribing and multidisciplinary working.

The post holder will be responsible for organising their professional day and ensuring that administrative staff are aware of their whereabouts and can reach the doctor during office hours. Annual leave and study leave must be planned in conjunction with other members of the medical teams and must be approved by the supervising consultant and rota coordinator.
