We're looking for a hands-on Yard Supervisor to join our Beaconsfield branch. This is a key leadership role, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of a busy yard, ensuring high standards of health and safety, excellent stock control and
- What you’ll be doing
- Leading, motivating and developing a yard team of five or more colleagues.
- Overseeing the day-to-day operation of a busy builders' merchant yard.
- Coordinating goods in, goods out, customer collections and deliveries efficiently.
- Ensuring stock is stored safely, accurately and presented to a high standard.
- Operating a forklift and supporting the team with loading and unloading when required.
- Maintaining excellent housekeeping and ensuring the yard is safe, organised and compliant at all times.
- Carrying out and monitoring daily health and safety checks, ensuring PPE and safe working practices are consistently followed.
- Managing forklift inspections and reporting maintenance issues promptly.
- Working closely with the Branch Manager and wider branch team to deliver excellent customer service.
- Supporting stock control, inventory accuracy and continuous improvement across the yard.
- What we’re looking for
- Experience supervising or managing a team of five or more people.
- Proven experience running a busy yard within a builders' merchant or similar building products environment.
- Good knowledge of building materials and an understanding of merchant operations.
- Strong understanding of health and safety legislation, with a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
- Confident organising workloads, setting priorities and leading by example.
- A proactive, hands‑on approach with excellent communication skills.
- Reliable, organised and able to remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
- Due to the location of the branch, you will need your own reliable transport.
